A landowner has started an initiative to create a national forest for the Phoenix metropolitan area, with a goal to grow the forest in two years.
Subaru Forester Arizona is looking for landowners in the metro area, and its website offers a number of ways land owners can become a part of the initiative.
Here are some of the things they can do:Become a member of Subaru Forester, which is a nonprofit organization that is funded by the Subaru Corporation of America.
The nonprofit owns a number a public lands in Arizona and is trying to create one nationwide.
Membership is free and you can apply online.
Join the Arizona Forests Association, an association of private landowners that is responsible for managing some of Phoenix’s public lands.
The association has a landowner registration website.
The organization offers an online application form, and there are registration deadlines.

The Arizona Foresters Association says it is looking to have a membership meeting in Arizona in November.
Join the group at the Tucson Convention Center.
The group has been around for about a year and is growing, with about 2,200 members.
The Arizona Forest Service is also looking to add more members.
